Technology & Digital
Digital and technology have been identified as key growth areas for the Birmingham of the future. The West Midlands is home to one of the largest tech clusters in the UK with more than 40,000 people employed in the sector. Web development, data, e-commerce, animation and cloud computing are all on the rise in the region, while gaming has been a traditional strength with a quarter of the UK's games workforce based here. In Birmingham, the sector is particularly strong in two clusters - around Innovation Birmingham at Aston Science Park and in Digbeth.
