Glenn Fogel is a busy man. As global CEO of Booking Holdings he oversees thousands of employees at six major brands with partnerships spread across over 220 countries.

Speaking with Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham at Booking.com's new £80m UK headquarters on Tuesday, he even joked he basically lives on an airplane.

Mr Fogel was in the city for a flying visit after the group's largest brand moved into its new surroundings at Manchester’s Enterprise City at the end of 2022. The building is on the former site of the famous Granada Studios next to the old Coronation Street set.

Before jetting off to Booking.com's global HQ in Amsterdam, the CEO sat down for an exclusive interview with BusinessLive on everything from why the brand has doubled down on its investment in Manchester through to his thoughts on hybrid working and the cost of living.

He also spoke about whether Booking.com would ever accept crypto currency, what it's like to run a global business and if the travel industry has changed since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new UK head office opened after the brand took on 450 new employees in Manchester last year and is aiming to add a further 200 by the end of 2023. The office will be the base for 1,300 people eventually.

Complete with free food, a car-themed pool table and arcade games, the space also includes break-out spaces, meeting rooms and enough desks to cater for those employees who have chosen to come in for that day.
