A two-storey, 650-capacity sports bar is opening inside a historic Nottingham building.

The new BOX bar – the brand’s first in the East Midlands – has been created inside the Grade II listed building on the corner of Thurland Street and Pelham Street. It opens tomorrow.

The 16,000 sq ft bar will be one of the city’s most spacious venues and will embody BOX’s ‘watch, play and party’ ethos – with live sports, live bands and entertainment.

It has been designed to make the most of the building’s original architectural features, including its dramatic high ceilings. A 55-foot bar will serve a mix of local, national and international craft beers from 43 taps, including Nottingham-brewed Castle Rock, along with cocktails.

Other features will include a six-foot mirror ball, 35 flat screen TVs and a stadium-style LED screen which will be one of the biggest in any BOX bar in the UK and one of the largest in Nottingham.

There are also two 18-foot maple wood European Shuffleboard tables and three electronic dart boards.

Jamie Barnes, general manager at BOX Nottingham, said: "We’re really excited to be introducing BOX to Nottingham and we can't wait to welcome guests to the bar this weekend so that they can see what it’s all about.

“It’s a unique space that has something for everyone; whether it's sports, karaoke or premium cocktails – BOX will be the new place to go for lunch, dinner or a night out in the city centre.”
