The boss of the Gresham Aparthotel in Leicester is in the running for two awards at the inaugural Inspiring Women in Property Awards. Hotel chief executive Snizhana Yesaulenko (pictured above) is up for commercial woman of the year and commercial leader of the year at the awards which honour the people, teams and firms empowering women in the property workplace.

Wells McFarlane:
Lutterworth-based commercial property consultancy Wells McFarlane has appointed a new residential and commercial asset manager.
Pru Singh will support the firm’s director and co-founder Andrew McFarlane Holt with property and site inspections, tenant, landlord, contractor and other stakeholder liaison, lease renewals, marketing and general property management.
He said: “For the last decade my career’s been focused on residential lettings and property management, working at a specialist agency in Clarendon Park.
“I was aware that Wells McFarlane offer this service, but the role also included commercial property, meaning I could expand my skill set.

MX Display:
Derby-based large format print, graphic and signage firm MX Display continues to grow its business.
After investing hundreds of thousands of pounds in new software and equipment at its production unit in Derby’s Meteor Business Park, it has expanded its team with the appointment of Hannah Byatt, who joins as a new studio artworker.
Hannah is an illustrator and has experience as a surface pattern designer and graphic designer.
Sales director David Lister said: “We are continuing to grow and develop our team in Derby, and welcome Hannah as part of our design studio and look forward to her bringing her skills to the many unique projects we get involved in up and down the country.
True MSP:
Sarah Wilson has swapped the supermarket shop floor for tech – after bucking the gender trend by landing herself a role in IT.
The 30-year-old is currently the only female member on the technical team at Derbyshire-based True MSP.
The former Morrisons worker took the plunge after 11 years in retail and started an apprenticeship with the firm – keen for a change in career but not so eager to head back into the classroom, choosing instead to learn on the job.
She said: “It’s been great. I’ve always been around boys, and everyone has been so supportive.”
True MSP was founded by Neil and Tim Rookes in 2017 and provides business IT support services such as cyber security and hardware management to a wide range of clients.
Planning & Design Practice:
Planning & Design Practice has recruited senior architect David Symons.
David is an RIBA Chartered Architect who studied architecture at the University of Nottingham, and has experience working in practice in both the UK and Canada.
He was previously project architect at a practice of 60 and responsible for construction budgets upwards of £20 million.
David has experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and working with diverse clients including local authorities, property developers, and top-ranking higher education institutions on projects ranging from town centre regeneration utilising government future high street funding, commercial office fit outs and university projects throughout the West Midlands and Nationally.
The firm has offices in Derby, Matlock, Macclesfield and Sheffield.
Actons:
Nottingham law firm Actons has appointed an experienced conveyancing lawyer as an associate in its property team.
David Stapleton, who has joined from Chattertons, has specialised in residential conveyancing for over 20 years.
He helps clients with all aspects of residential property work including sales and purchases, registered and unregistered, sale and purchases of leasehold property, transfer of equity, equity release.
He said: “The main thing that attracted me to join the firm was their approach and culture - which was evident from the first conversation I had with them. I’m looking forward to working with the team and wider firm to develop the residential conveyancing practice.”
Miller Homes:
Miller Homes has promoted Tom Roberts to the role of East Midlands operations director to head up the region from its Derby offices.
Tom brings a wealth of experience to the role, having initially joined Miller Homes in August 2004 as a graduate land buyer.
As one of 10 graduates selected for the national scheme, Tom benefited from exposure to every department, including sales and legal, helping him to develop his knowledge across all aspects of the business.
Following completion of the scheme, he was promoted to land buyer and most recently held the position of area land director in the East and South Midlands.
Tom said: “We have built a great team in the East Midlands and our business reputation as an honest and trustworthy housebuilder has helped us win projects and land in the region.”
Mather Jamie:
Loughborough based specialist land development and property consultancy Mather Jamie has appointed Fraser Hearfield as an assistant agency surveyor.
Fraser, who lives in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, holds a real estate BSc (Hons) from Sheffield Hallam University and joins the firm from the valuations team at a large Nottingham based agency.
He will be part of the Mather Jamie Commercial team working on transactional agency instructions across the industrial, office, retail and investment markets throughout Leicestershire.
He will also assist with other professional work, such as lease renewal and rent reviews as well as valuations for a range of purposes including loan security, acquisitions, disposals and development appraisals.
Earl Shilton Building Society:
Following a recent string of appointments Earl Shilton Building Society (esbs) has welcomed another member to its mortgage team.
Madi Vernon has started her first full-time job as a mortgage administrator having completed her A-Levels in business, history and sociology last year.
She said: “I have always had an interest in the finance industry and I could see esbs as the way forward for me.
“With a new way for me to learn, apply and develop my skills it’s an exciting way to start my career.”

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) has appointed Kevin Allen-Khimani as its new chief executive, who will step into the helm after the retirement of Kevan Liles this autumn.
Kevin is the current head of operations and services and has more than 20 years’ service at VAL.
He successfully led VAL’s response to the Covid 19 pandemic, mobilising thousands of local volunteers and hundreds of community groups to support vulnerable local communities.
He will start his new role in mid-September to allow a six week handover period before Kevan Liles retires at the end of October after 33 years’ service at VAL.
He said: “It is so exciting to be given this opportunity to lead such a fantastic organisation.
“I intend to lead VAL to a better, more sustainable future – building on the existing strong foundations.”

Surplus stock redistributor Company Shop Group has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of former Samworth Brothers community director Adam King and former Morrisons’ head of finance (retail) Sinead Healey.
New marketing director Adam brings with him experience in supply chain roles before spending much of his career in marketing and creative positions across the industry.
Having also held positions with Mars UK and Noble Foods, Adam has spent the last nine years at Samworth Brothers, first as creative director and then community director, where he led its community strategy, including close collaboration with Company Shop Group and its award-winning social enterprise, Community Shop.
He is also a trustee for charity Leicestershire Cares.
New FD Sinead Healey brings to the role more than 13 years of retail industry experience, with the last three years spent at Morrisons in various senior finance positions, after a decade-long stint with Mamas and Papas.
Company Shop Group redistributes surplus food and household products from big retailers and manufacturers at discounted prices. It has 14 stores across England and Scotland, while its Community Shop social enterprise has 11 members-only stores in some of the UK’s most deprived communities.
