Car dealer group Motorpoint is having to make alternative arrangements for customers after its Derby showroom was closed due to flooding from Storm Babet.

The business said that from next Wednesday, November 1 onwards, its Shelton House offices in Prime Parkway, Derby will double as a temporary collection point for vehicles.

The group’s Derby store, off the A52 on the eastern side of the city, was affected when the River Derwent burst its banks and will be out of action for some time. It said number of vehicles had also been affected and had been removed from its inventory.

A spokeswoman said: “Motorists can browse cars online from the businesses’ 19 unaffected stores and have their next Motorpoint purchase delivered to the Derby-based office for no extra charge.

“Located just two miles away from the Derby store, Shelton House will be staffed by members of the Motorpoint Derby team who will also be able to accept part-exchange vehicles.”

Chris Goodison, regional retail director for Motorpoint, said: “While we are working hard to get our Derby store open as soon as possible, it's great to be able to offer local motorists an alternative in the meantime.

“Motorpoint has a huge presence in Derby, and we are proud to be headquartered in the city, so we are fortunate to be able to repurpose our existing office space to continue supporting customers through this difficult time.

“As ever, the team will be on hand to assist customers at every stage of the process and answer any questions they might have.”

The stand-in Derby site will be open seven days a week for collections.
