An Indian provider of IT services has opened a new office in Birmingham.

Navi Mumbai-based Hexaware has launched the base at 3 Brindleyplace where it is vowing to create 250 new jobs over the next two years.

The opening of its Birmingham operation follows its move to establish a pilot facility in the city earlier this year to provide on-site support for customers.

Since then, it said a surge in demand in areas such as application operations and service desk support had convinced the company to step up its growth in the West Midlands while diversifying its portfolio of services.

The expansion plan, which has already created 60 jobs in Birmingham, forms part of the business' UK growth strategy. The company currently operates more than 45 offices in 19 countries.

During the 2022/23 financial year, India overtook the US to become the West Midlands' leading source of foreign-direct investment (FDI).

Hexaware's chief executive Srikrishna Ramakarthikeyan said: "We want to deliver personalised services to our large and rapidly growing British customer base while helping build and improve the economy and talent in local communities.
