Three female entrepreneurs from Leicestershire have launched a new, "exclusive" group to inspire and connect women across the country. The Amira Forum is led by lawyer Dr Glynis Wright MBE who has a background in business and professional services; marketing expert and business coach Jenny Cross; and business entrepreneur and tech expert Leanne Bonner-Cooke MBE.
The group – its name Amira means treetop in Hebrew – is aimed at women running their own businesses and in leadership positions within their professions, and will give them access to the expertise of the three founders in the form of support, mentoring and consultancy. Members will also be able to connect with other similarly positioned women.
The first forum will be made up of 15 women working with Glynis, Jenny and Leanne over a six-month cycle. Sessions will run one day a month from 9am-1pm. Each member will also gain a 30 min one-to-one session with the founders.
Dr Glynis Wright MBE, who runs GW Growth Consultancy, said: “All attendees of the Amira Forum will be asked to sign a privacy document which means that the cohort of 15 women taking part in the forum can speak frankly and openly about the issues that they feel are holding them back as leaders and professionals without fear of that being discussed elsewhere.
“We want honest and frank conversations to happen, and we want to create a space where experiences are shared freely, where women can own what they consider to be their areas of vulnerability or weakness in business and leadership s in order to create real personal growth.
“We also want the cohort of women to form their own network of support that continues in its own right once the six-month Amira course has come to an end.”
Jenny Cross, chief executive of Cross Productions, said: “The time is now. We are delighted to be bringing Amira to the female business and professional community throughout the Midlands and beyond.
“My experience in business, marketing and as a qualified coach puts me in a strong position to share my industry knowledge with the cohort in order to elevate their skill-sets and leadership experiences.”
IT entrepreneur Leanne Bonner-Cooke MBE said: “We will work to ensure that the groups within the cohort are from non-compete industries.
“The Amira women will be able to share their experiences, tap into ours and discover ways in which they can grow and achieve their desired successes.”
