A clean energy company has announced it is on target to complete two solar energy farms in the South of England.
Environmena said the farms will provide 42MWp of renewable electricity and will be complete in early 2024. Horsey Levels in Bridgwater, Somerset, and the Kiln Fields project in Heckfield near Hook in Hampshire, will together provide enough power annually for 16,450 average sized homes, offsetting up to 11,000 tonnes in carbon emissions.

When fully operational, Horsey Levels will boast 45,198 bifacial solar modules with a capacity of 24.18MWp and will generate over 28,000MWhs of energy per annum, offsetting approximately 6,500 tonnes of carbon emissions.
Both sites secured planning permission last year, with Kiln Fields receiving a unanimous vote by Councillors on the Hart District planning committee voting 10-0 in favour of the application.
Gary Hales, Enviromena’s chief operating officer said: “Our in house project management teams are pushing forward at speed with the construction of both projects which are on schedule to complete in line with project programmes. Furthermore, our grid team are working closely with our ICP partner to ensure all connection related activities are finalised ready for energisation in early 2024.”
Chris Marsh, chief executive at Enviromena, added: “The construction progress made on the projects in Heckfield and Bridgwater are further evidence on Enviromena’s growing presence in the UK solar industry. These two high yielding schemes form part of a portfolio that will deliver a considerable contribution to the UK’s transition to Net Zero targets and we are looking forward to energising both projects alongside commencing construction on a further 150MW of projects in early 2024.”
Last month Enviromena announced it had just completed a major equity raise of £65m, which will support the growth of its constructed and operational UK solar portfolio to over 500MW by 2025.
