Sports bar and kitchen operators BOX has unveiled plans for a new Nottingham city centre venue, its first in the East Midlands.
The new site will be spread over two floors in a Grade II listed building on the corner of Thurland Street and Pelham Street, and plans to open its doors in November, to catch the start of the Christmas party season.
The 16,000sq ft venue will be able to hold 650 people, and will offer live sports, live bands and entertainment. It will embrace the building’s original architectural features, including its dramatic high ceilings.
A 55ft bar will serve a mix of local, national and international craft beers from 43 taps, including Nottingham-brewed Castle Rock, along with cocktails.
Other features will include a 6ft mirror ball, 35 flat screen TVs and a stadium-style LED screen, which will be one of the biggest in any BOX bar anywhere in the UK and one of the largest in Nottingham.
Operation manager Kirsty Clarke said: “Nottingham is home to some of the best sports fans in the country, from football and cricket, to ice hockey and tennis, so it’s the perfect choice for our first East Midlands venue.
“We certainly aren’t holding back either as it’s our largest venue to date, with the biggest screen of any of our bars. It’s already game, set and match to Nottingham.
“With the festive season just around the corner, BOX is going to be the perfect destination to celebrate and we can’t wait to open our doors in November and welcome Nottingham in to watch, play and party.”
BOX Nottingham opens on November 11 and joins other BOX bars around the country, including Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.
